How to cook or make White Pongal (Ven Pongal)
White Pongal (Ven Pongal)
(1) Rice – 500 grams
(2) Pepper – 2 tea spoon
(3) Cumin seed - 1/2 tea spoon
(4) Green gram dhal – 200 grams
(5) Salt – adjust to taste
(6) Ginger – 2 tea spoon
(7) Ghee – 50 grams
(8) Cashew nuts – 15 Nos.
Procedure of making White Pongal (Ven Pongal):
Heat ghee in a pan and fry cashew nuts in that and keep aside. Roast the
cumin seed, ginger pieces and Pepper in that ghee. Then fry the green
gram dhal also.
Heat water in a vessel. On boiling, add rice and green gram dhal and boil.
When it is half cooked, add salt and mix well. When rice is cooked, stop
heating, take from the stove, add cashew nuts, ginger and remaining ghee
into the rice and stir well.
