How to cook or make Tree Melon (Carica Papaya)
Fry (Omakka Thoran)
Ingredients:
(1) Tree Melon – 1
(2) Coconut – half
Chilly powder – 1 tea spoon
Turmeric powder – 1 pinch
Cumin seed – ¼ tea spoon
Small onion – 3
(3) Salt – adjust to taste
(4) Coconut oil – 2 table spoon
Mustard seeds – ½ tea spoon
Red chilly – 2
Curry leaves – a few
Procedure for cooking Tree Melon (Carica Papaya) Fry (Omakka Thoran)
Remove the skin of the tree melon and chop into thin pieces of 1 inch
length. Add salt and sufficient water to that and boil. Smash the ingredients
under (2) together. Add the smashed mixture over the papaya pieces and
stir well and remove from the stove. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds
to splutter and roast pieces of red chilly and curry leaves and add these
into the tree melon pieces and stir. Heat with a low flame and dry the
water completely. Then stop heating and stir well.
