How to cook or make Plantain Stem Stir Fry
(Vazha Pindi Thoran)
(1) Plantain stem – 1 medium size piece
(2) Black gram dhal – 100 grams
(3) Coconut – half part
Green chilly – 6
Turmeric powder – ½ tea spoon
Garlic – 2 pellets
(4) Coconut oil – 2 table spoon
(5) Curry leaves – a few
(6) Mustard seeds – ½ tea spoon
(7) Salt – adjust to taste
(8) Red chilly – 2
Procedure for cooking Plantain Stem Stir Fry (Vazha Pindi Thoran)
Cut the plantain stem into round pieces and remove the thread in that.
Then keep them one over other and then chop into small pieces. Keep under
water and then remove the water. Smash ingredients under (3) together.
Cook the plantain stem pieces and the smashed ingredients together. Heat
coconut oil in a pan and roast the black gram dhal in that. In the remaining
oil add mustard seeds to splutter and also add curry leaves and pieces
of red chilly. Then add the cooked items, black gram dhal and salt. Stir
well keeping a low flame and stop heating when it is dry.
