How to cook or make Plantain Fry (Vazhakka
Purattiyathu)
Ingredients:
(1) Raw plantain – 300 grams
(2) Coconut – 1 ½ cup
Green chilly – 3
Turmeric powder – ¼ tea spoon
Small onion – 3
Cumin seed – ¼ tea spoon
(3) Chinese potato – 100 grams
(4) Coconut oil – 2 table spoon
Mustard seeds – ½ table spoon
Red chilly – 2
Curry leaves – a little
(5) Salt – adjust to taste
Procedure for cooking Plantain Fry (Vazhakka Purattiyathu)
Peel the plantain as well as Chinese potato and cut them into small pieces.
Add salt and water and boil. Smash ingredients under (2). Heat oil in
a pan and add mustard seeds to splutter. Roast pieces of red chilly and
curry leaves in the oil. Add the cooked pieces and smashed items into
the pan and stir well.
