How to cook or make Plantain Flower Stir
Fry (Vazha Coombu Thoran)
Ingredients:
(1) Plantain flower – 1
(2) Green gram – 100 grams
(3) Small onion – 100 grams
Coconut – half part
Green chilly – 6
Turmeric powder – 1 table spoon
(4) Coconut oil – 1 table spoon
(5) Mustard seeds – ½ tea spoon
(6) Curry leaves – a few
(7) Salt – adjust to taste
Procedure for cooking Plantain Flower Stir Fry (Vazha Coombu Thoran)
Wash the green gram and cook that. Remove 2 or 3 outer petals and then
chop the plantain flower into small pieces. Pour a little coconut oil
on the flower and apply the oil all over the flower. Chop onion also into
small pieces. Smash coconut, green chilly and turmeric powder together.
Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds into that to splutter. Then add
plantain flower, green gram and salt. Keep the smashed ingredients at
the center, close the vessel and heat. When cooking is over, stir keeping
a low flame and stop heating when it gets dry. Serve when cold.
