Kerala Tamil Mix Curry (Koottu Curry) recipe

How to cook or make Mix Curry (Koottu Curry)

(1) Yam – 250 grams
Carrot – 200 grams
Tender pumpkin – 250 grams
(2) Gram dhal – 250 grams
(3) Chilly powder – 1 table spoon
Turmeric powder – ½ tea spoon
Jaggery – 200 grams
Salt – adjust to taste
(4) Coconut – 1
(5) Cumin seeds – ½ tea spoon
(6) Mustard seeds – 1 tea spoon
(7) Black gram dhal – 1 tea spoon
(8) Curry leaves, Oil – as required

Procedure for cooking Mix Curry (Koottu Curry)

Chop the vegetables into small pieces. Drop the gram dhal into water kept in a vessel and boil. When the dhal is almost cooked, add the chopped vegetables into that. When the vegetables are cooked, add chilly powder, turmeric powder, salt and jiggery and stir well to mix properly. Grind half of the grated coconut and cumin seeds together. Roast the remaining half of grated coconut and black gram dhal till they become reddish. Add mustard seeds into that to splutter followed by curry leaves. Finally add the cooked vegetables and the ground mixture of coconut and cumin seed into that and stir well.
