How to cook or make Garlic Rasam (Veluthulli
Rasam)
Ingredients:
(1) Peeled garlic pellets – ¾ cup
(2) Pepper powder – 1 tea spoon
(3) Chilly powder – ½ tea spoon
(4) Cumin seed powder – ½ tea spoon
(5) Tomato – 2
(6) Asafoetida powder – ½ tea spoon
(7) Coriander seed powder – 1 tea spoon
(8) Turmeric powder – ¼ tea spoon
(9) Coconut oil – 1 tea spoon
(10) Mustard seeds – ¼ tea spoon
(11) Curry leaves – a few
(12) Salt – adjust to taste
Procedure for cooking Garlic Rasam (Veluthulli Rasam)
Cook the garlic pellets in steam. Take water in a vessel, add asafoetida
powder and tomato pieces and boil. Mix turmeric powder, chilly powder,
coriander seed powder, cumin seed powder, salt and water together and
boil. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds to splutter. Roast curry
leaves also in the same oil and add them into the boiled mixture of ingredients.
Add the cooked garlic also into that and stir well. Finally add coriander
leaves and then take out of the stove.
