Kerala Tamil Chicken Onion Masala recipe

How to cook or make Chicken Onion Masala

(1) Chicken – 1 kg
(2) Big onion - 4
(3) Chilly powder – 4 tea spoon
(4) Turmeric powder – ½ tea spoon
(5) Pepper – 10
(6) Tomato – 3
(7) Garlic – 4 pellets
(8) Ginger – 1 piece
(9) Cardamom – 3
(10) Clove – 3
(11) Cinnamon – 1 piece
(12) Lemon – 1
(13) Coconut oil – ¼ cup
(14) Salt – adjust to taste

Procedure for cooking Chicken Onion Masala

Clean the chicken and cut into big pieces. Mix 1 tea spoon chilly powder with salt and turmeric powder and apply this mixture over the chicken pieces and keep for 10 minutes. Grind the remaining chilly powder, garlic, ginger, clove, cardamom and pepper together. Chop the big onion into long thin pieces. Chop tomato into small pieces. Heat coconut oil and roast the big onion pieces in that. When it changes to golden brown in color take out of the pan. Roast the tomato also. Roast the ground ingredients in the remaining oil till their color changes to brown. Transfer the roasted ingredients and the roasted tomato into a deep vessel. Add ¾ of the roasted onion pieces also. Now add the chicken pieces and pour some water and boil. When the oil in the curry becomes translucent stop heating and take the curry out. The remaining pieces of big onion and curry leaves may be sprinkled at the top of the curry.
