Masala Button Cheeda making at home
Ingredients
(1) Rice flour made for paalappam – 1 cup
Gram dhal flour – ½ cup
Roasted gram flour – ½ cup
Roasted green gram dhal flour – ½ cup
(2) Vanaspathi – 1 tea spoon
(3) Red chilly – 2
Fennel – 1 tea spoon
Salt – adjust to taste
(4) Water – as required
Sesame – 1 tea spoon
(5) Chilly powder – 1 tea spoon
Pepper made into rough powder – 1 tea spoon
(6) Curry leaves – 1 stem
Procedure
Mix ingredients under (1) together and pass the mixture through a sieve having big holes. Mix vanaspathi with the mixture. Grind red chilly, fennel and salt together and mix that with the mixture of ingredients under (1). Pour water into the mixture and mix well without making it a loose paste. Then add washed dried sesame into that.
Make small balls with the mixture; size of a ball may be of an amla fruit. Press the balls a little, fry them in oil and collect back. Roast curry leaves in a pan and add chilly powder, pepper powder and salt and add this mixture over the balls. Stir without crushing the balls and then store in air tight bottle.
