How to make Fish Biriyani (Meen Biriyani) at Home
Making Fish Biriyani (Meen Biriyani)
(1) Fish cut into flat pieces – ½ kg
(2) Chilly powder – ½ table spoon
(3) Turmeric powder – ½ table spoon
(4) Salt – a little
(5) Big onion – 2 (Chopped into thin pieces)
(6) Smashed ginger – 1 piece
(7) Small onion – 1 ½ cup
(8) Green chilly – 10
(9) Fennel – 1 tea spoon
(10) Garam masala – ½ tea spoon
(11) Salt – adjust to taste
(12) Basmati rice – 2 kg
(13) Coconut milk – as required
Wash, wipe and press the fish pieces. Apply salt, chilly powder and turmeric powder on them. Fry them in oil without roasting much and collect back.
Take ingredients (6) to (9), salt, chopped coriander leaves, half of the roasted pieces of big onion and mix them with curd and pour them into a pressure cooker. Spread the pieces of fish above that. Pour 1 cup of water and boil for 5 – 10 minutes.
Cook the rice separately and take out when that is half cooked. Take the half cooked rice, remaining fried big onion, coconut milk, garam masala and lemon juice and add them into the pressure cooker. Do not stir. Close the pressure cooker and put the weight. Heat with a low flame either for 10 minutes or till the rice is cooked well.
