Sarkkara Varatti Jaggery Jam South Indian,Kerala ,tamil nadu styles

Ingredients Sarkkara Varatti Jaggery Jam :-

1. ripe banana fruit – ½ kg
2. jaggery – ¼ kg
3. Rice – 1 sp
4. dry ginger – 1 piece
5. cumin seed – ½ cup
6. cumin seed – ½ sp
7. sugar - 1 sp
8. coconut oil – ¼ kg

Method of preparation Sarkkara Varatti Jaggery Jam

Peel off the skin of banana. Cut the fruit vertically into 4 pieces. Then cut into thick small pieces and fry them in oil.

Roast the rice and grind. Grind dry ginger and cumin seed also. Melt the jiggery in a little water in a pan. When the liquid becomes thick, reduce the flame and add the fried banana pieces and stir continuously. When coating of jiggery over the banana pieces starts, add ginger powder and cumin seed powder. Increase the flame and continue stirring until the entire jiggery gets coated over the banana pieces.

Once coating is over, remove the pan from stove and sprinkle powdered roasted rice and sugar over it.
