Bitter Gird Pickle Pavakka Achar Ingredients:
(1) Bitter gird – 250 grams
(2) Asafoetida powder – ½ tea spoon
(3) Chilly powder – 1 tea spoon
(4) Salt – adjust to taste
(5) Garlic – 10 pellets
(6) Mustard seeds – 1 tea spoon
(7) Vinegar – 1 tea spoon
(8) Gingili oil – ½ cup
(9) Ginger – 1 piece
(10) Green chilly – 10
Procedure for cooking Bitter Gird Pickle Pavakka Achar
Clean the bitter gird and chop into small pieces. Mix salt. Heat oil in
a pan and roast ginger and garlic. Add mustard seeds in the remaining
oil to splutter and roast green chilly chopped into round pieces. Add
chilly powder, heat again, add bitter gird pieces and pour vinegar. Add
asafoetida also. Boil ½ cup of water and add the bitter gird pieces,
ginger and garlic. When mixed thoroughly, stop heating and keep for cooling.
Transfer into bottles.
