Cauliflower South Indian recipe Introduction
This recipe livens up the ordinary cauliflower in a very different taste. It is cooked by the north Indians and the south Indians and it contain a lot of vitamin c

• 1 large cauliflower (1 ¾ to 2 pounds) broken into florets
• 2 tablespoons canola or peanut oil
• 1-inch piece of ginger, peeled, sliced and cut into thin slivers or minced
• 1 teaspoon cumin seeds, lightly toasted and crushed
• 1 to 2 Serrano chiles, to taste, seeded if desired and minced
• 1 cup chopped fresh or canned tomatoes
• 2 teaspoons coriander seeds, lightly toasted and ground
• ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
• ½ teaspoon turmeric
• Salt to taste
• ¼ cup chopped cilantro
• 1 lime cut in wedges, for serving

Method of preparing Cauliflower South Indian recipe

Break the cauliflower florets wash them and keep aside. Peel and mince the ginger.
Fresh tomatoes should be washed and cut in to small pieces. Cilantro must be washed and chopped the lime to be cut in to wedges.


Cumin seeds to be roasted and crushed. Coriander seeds should be roasted in a dry pan and ground to powder.

Method of cooking Cauliflower South Indian recipe

Steam the cauliflower florets with the lid covered for few minutes. And then remove the lid to allow the steam to escape and see that the florets are tender and soft.
Remove the florets from fire and wash them under the cold water and keep aside
Heat oil in abroad pan add the minced ginger, green chilies and crushed cumin seeds fry for a minute now add the cauliflower florets and mix well after 5minutes add the cut tomatoes, ground coriander powder, cayenne, turmeric, salt as required stir till the tomatoes are well cooked. Finally add the cilantro and mix well for another 30 seconds.

Method of serving
Take a serving plate Place the cooked cauliflower in the center and you can decorate it with the rings of onion and shredded cabbage. On one side of the plate place the cut lemon wedges to squeeze if desired.

This preparation is very different than the usual one it is also served as an evening snack to children with lot of other ingredients added to it.
