How to make Lakkottappam at Home

Lakkottappam Preparation


                       (1) Maida – 2 cup
                       (2) Egg – 2
                       (3) Salt – as required

For Filling

                     (1) Ghee – 1 tea spoon
                     (2) Egg – 6
                     (3) Sugar – 6 table spoon
                     (4) Cardamom – 3
                     (5) Cashew nut – 6
                     (6) Grapes – a little

For melting the sugar

                   (1) Sugar – ½ cup
                   (2) Water – ½ cup
                   (3) Yellow color – 1 pinch


Mix sugar and maida in water and make it a loose mixture. Heat kadai and pour the mixture at the center and spread to the size of a poori.  Whip the egg, add all other filling ingredients and keep a little of that at the center of the poori and fold the poori to the shape of a box. Again pour the mixture on kadai and spread to size of a dosa.  Keep a little of the whipped egg at the center and keep the first box on that. Then fold the dosa in the shape of a box. Like this make one set of four boxes, one inside the other.

Mix ½ cup of sugar with ½ cup of water and heat that to melt the sugar. Add the color also into the melted sugar.
Take out the bread and keep that on a tray. Cut that into four pieces. Decorate the pieces by pouring the melted sugar at the center of the pieces.
